I travel a LOT for business.  You may remember last year when I was working with a Party Plan Company in Texas – I drove 12 hours each Sunday back and forth from Florida to Texas.  More recently I have been working in Atlanta, Tampa, Chicago and Los Angeles.   With the exception of one trip to Chicago – I have traveled all of these places alone, and one more than one occasion I have been “spooked” – either by someone or by my own imagination.   Either way, it was scary.

I first heard about Damsel in Defense a few months ago when Valerie Stone, Independent Defense Pro, left her information on our Facebook Page.  I was immediately impressed – what a WONDERFUL idea!   In home parties that help to teach women how to defend themselves and stay safe, and give them the tools they need to do so.  Fabulous.

For the Christmas in July Event, Valerie sent me the Road Trip Kit – something I wish I had all those many hours traveling to Texas. The Road Trip Kit comes with two products – “Holla at Me”  (which I recommend you NOT put batteries in and “test” anywhere near your ears… like yours truly did)  and the “Road Trip Emergency Tool.”

This alarm is small enough to easily fit in the palm of your hand and can conveniently attach to your key chain, making it readily available in case of an emergency.  The alarm button allows for two levels of protection.  Pressing the button slightly will sound a brief alarm blast.  Pushing the button down completely will sound the alarm continually until the situation is safe and you deactivate the alarm.  The alarm button is recessed to prevent accidental activation.  For your added safety, this unit also features a built-in flashlight which emits a bright beam of light when needed.  Measures 2.5 inches by 1.25 inches.  Requires a Twelve volt battery that is included. The alarm is 120 decibels.

Road Trip Tool

Our auto emergency tool can be a lifesaver!  It features a flashlight, alarm and blinking roadside beacon in case you break down on a dark road.  If trapped inside a car, use the water resistant unit as a hammer to break the window or use the blade to cut the seat belt.

I love all of the products that Damsel In Defense offers and the mission they are working towards.  As someone who travels alone I can see how just knowing you have something that could even aid as a deterrent would make you feel so much safer.    My “Road Trip Kit” is happily sitting in the closed console of my car ready for my next Road Trip!
