In 2010 I took a contract working with a brand new party plan company in Texas 2 weeks out of every month.  Since I live in Florida this meant that every Sunday I would drive 12 hours – 781 miles – from my house to the front door of the Holiday Inn Express in Ft Worth, Texas.   I was incredibly fortunate to make that trip so many times without a single incident, but I can not say there were not a few times when I felt… well… less than safe.

Independent Damsel in Defense Consultant Sandra Fife sent me an item I wish I had back in the days I was traveling – mostly feel more secure but also to handle myself in case anything bad did happen.   The “Tiny Takedown” is a little handheld stun gun which will quickly and effectively “take down” an assailant with a simple touch.  Within just a few seconds you can stun your attacker in plenty of time to get to safety – without any permanent damage to the assailant.  One little blip of the switch will show you just how much power you are carrying in this little pink device.

Now, some may wonder why someone would need a stun gun or why even a company would carry such products, but the truth is I believe in “better safe than sorry” and as a single woman who travels alone a LOT, there is something to be said about simply knowing you are protected if something bad should ever arise.  Since I know I would be more danger to myself than an attacker if I had a gun or something like that, I appreciate Damsel in Defense giving me other safer alternatives that make me feel just as secure.
